Visual Basic

Visual Basic is Microsoft's "across the board" language for programming (e.g. business) applications. (C and its variations are the preferred language when a close connection to the computer is required). VB has some variations and it has become massive -- too hard for one person to know everything about it. We focus on the use of VB with databases.

VB and VBA and Access

VB and Access interconnect in two different ways:

1.  Visual Basic for Applications is the programming language within Access and 
2. Access is often the database manager for VB applications.

Visual Basic programs are somewhat different from Access' version of Visual Basic (known as Visual Basic for Applications)\

In addition, many VB programs that require database functions will utilize the Access database format (.mdb).
